How to Create Meta Tags for Blogger Blogs - SEO Tips & Tricks

Meta Tags are a great way for you to provide search engines with information about your sites. Meta tags are added to the head section of your HTML code under the Layout tab.

Meta Tags are part of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) but a more important part are creating Back Links and Track Backs.

Be warned some websites state that Meta Tags are not required for Blogger since Blogger is part of Google. But instead of taking someone’s word, I went to Blogger help and they discussed how format Meta Tags into your Blogger HTML. Thus in my mind, if Blogger didn't require Meta Tags, they wouldn't tell you how to format it or where to put it.

So I’m here to tell you how to create Meta Tags for Blogger HTML.

Now there are lots of Meta Tag Builders/Generators but they aren’t required if you know the code, which I have provided below. Plus after reading Google Help, you really don’t need all those other Meta Tags like, Author, subtitle, language, etc.

Google requires title and description meta tags. Google doesn't use keywords but other search engines do so it doesn’t hurt to put it in.

Also Google says that you don’t need Robot Meta Tag unless you telling it not to scroll your blog page but I decided to put it in just in case because I’m not sure if the other search engines require it and I haven't found any proof to dispute the use of it.

Robots Meta Tag is used to tell search engines whether to index and/or crawl a page or not.
Meta Tag Suggestions
Before follow the code below, keep in mind the parimaters.
  • Meta Description: 150 characters max (others will say 250 but I counted on Google and after 150 they start cutting off words.)
  • Meta Keywords: 25-30 keywords, don’t repeat words otherwise it will be considered spam. 255 characters
  • Meta Title: 60 characters
How to Create your own Meta Tags
Go to Layout, Edit HTML ***Remember to always back up your template.
Look at first few lines of your code, you'll see the Head section. Right below that you'll see your blog title.

Now after you found your title, copy and paste the below code, but put your own information in the dark purple boxes.

And now your done.

So now I notice my Google Rankings improving but I also noticed that all my blog postings had the same description and I didn't want that so then I searched and put in another code and so far its worked.
